Just a little message to thank you for this trip to the Dominican Republic. It was really nice to be guided by someone who lives there, knows the places and the people well, and speaks French 😜. Thank you also for helping me exchange my money and get a SIM card as soon as I arrived! (I needed the reassurance 😁)

As I told Célia, I know you organized this trip with heart, with the intention of truly helping us discover Dominican culture! And you did your best despite the weather ☁️. I thought the original program was a perfect mix of exploring landscapes, learning about musical culture, practicing dance, and taking care of our physical well-being — everything I look for ☺️. I really loved the musicality classes, the sound bath, and connecting with locals. I also enjoyed the walk we took with the girls to visit the mangrove (thank you so much for suggesting this place, it really motivated me again! It could be a great alternative to offer when there’s bad weather on another trip 😅), as well as the hike to Boca del Diablo. It’s so beautiful, even under the clouds!

I really appreciated having Sterling and Sandy with us: I felt safe with them, and it helped me feel confident to dance. You, Célia, and Alexia also made a great team.

"I chose this retreat to celebrate my 30th birthday around themes I love: dance, yoga, meditation, sisterhood, discovering a new culture, and the trust I have in Celia as an organizer — someone I appreciate and share many values with, and whose personality matches mine.

I also wanted to unplug a bit from daily life, disconnect, and the retreat format felt right.

It’s hard to pick because I enjoyed everything from A to Z — even outside the workshops, the more informal moments were really nice (conversations, taxi rides, meals…). But if I had to choose my top 3, I think it would be:
The salsa night at Tibiri Bar, the singing workshop with Mafe, and the values workshop where we introduced ourselves and complemented one another.

I got much more than what I came for. Immersing myself with the locals was incredibly rich and meaningful; everyone took great care of us. I practiced my Spanish even though I’m self-conscious about how I speak and understand it, and I managed pretty well.
It was my first time traveling alone in Latin America, so even though some people around me had fears or prejudices, I didn’t let that stop me.
I worked on my fears/phobias (blood, needles, heights) and didn’t let myself avoid anything during the trip despite the apprehension.
I connected strongly with people who were strangers to me but with whom I felt a bond that seemed to have been there for a long time.
I allowed myself to go with the flow, even though I usually like managing my own schedule and activities.
I ate such delicious local dishes that I already miss them.

If I had to summarize the experience in two values, I’d say discovery and sharing."

"I return with my eyes full of color from the beautiful architecture, the magnificent carnival/concert, and the clear waters of the Caribbean.

I have a variety of flavors that linger in my mouth, a crazy swaying of the hips from our dance classes and evenings, and a sense of calm provided by the yoga sessions, movements, and ceremonies.

This trip was so complete and rich in discoveries and encounters that it makes me want to repeat the experience in the Dominican Republic! Wait until I save up again... and you'll see me again.

I haven't finished mentioning you in my thousands of stories. A sort of transition (or denial?) towards returning to everyday life. I am atonce sad, tired, happy, and refreshed!
